The team at Abdij Hotel Rolduc is looking for an independent working cook who has hospitality in his/her blood. We are a close-knit team and, in addition, we are a little quirky, ambitious, but above all a real pack of wolves. We are part of Different Hotels and the Van Melick Catering Group.

We are not looking for a ‘standard’ receptionist(e), as a host you will be there for our guests at all times.
With your spontaneous welcoming attitude you will make sure that from the moment you welcome them until the moment they leave, the guest feel at home and get the service they expect. Through your collegial attitude, you and your team will do what you do best: make guests’ stay memorable.

The Main Responsibilities And Duties

  • Perform all reception duties with colleagues such as check-in, check-out, properly handling phone calls, email traffic, booking room and table reservations and acting as the central point of contact for the hotel
  • Ensuring a good atmosphere in the team
  • Ensure, together with the entire team, the unique guest experience and optimal service
  • Pass on necessary info to your immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Decisive, organizational skills, adaptability, results-oriented, accurate, persuasive, initiating, daring/daring, innovative and responsible
  • You have an excellent command of the French, German, Dutch and English languages both verbally and in writing

Job Description

As Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. You will play a critical role in maintaining our high standards of service, managing staff and ensuring overall guest satisfaction. You are a dynamic leader capable of motivating, coaching and inspiring the team to achieve the best possible results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the restaurant team and ensure efficient staff planning and management.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures and protocols to ensure smooth operation of the restaurant.
  • Oversee the quality of food preparation, presentation and service to meet guest expectations.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies to increase sales and raise brand awareness.
  • Managing the financial aspects of the restaurant, including budgeting, costing, purchasing and inventory management.
  • Resolve operational issues and guest complaints to ensure a positive experience and build customer loyalty.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety standards, health regulations and other legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial position within the hospitality industry, preferably as a restaurant manager.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry, including food safety, beverage management and guest service.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Analytical thinking skills and financial acumen for budgeting and cost control.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • A degree in hospitality management, business administration or a related field is a plus.

We are looking for a hospitality topper! Abdij Hotel Rolduc, the largest abbey complex in the Benelux and a UNESCO World Heritage Site! With 157 rooms, its own restaurant and 16 conference rooms, there is always something to do.

What will you do?
We have a professional kitchen where we prepare lunch and dinner daily and where you can join the catering team as a dishwasher. Thus, you contribute to order and cleanliness making sure that the kitchen and service team always has clean dishes, cutlery and utensils so that the guest never miss anything.

Tasks

  • You will support all departments for inquiries or assist when busy;
  • Working on interesting & challenging projects;
  • You actively approach customers where, after identifying needs and requirements, you prepare quotes and budgets for the events;
  • You know all the ‘event spaces’ at our special location of Rolduc Abbey like the back of your hand and work out a suitable customized proposal;
  • You will think along in the further development of our meeting packages, exclusive events in terms of customization from weddings and out of the box baby showers to product launches;
  • You will help organize and co-manage dinners, parties, seminars and conventions from 2 to 400 people;
  • You will be responsible for liaising with our guests and/or event bookers. You are responsible from initial sales contact through the after sales process;
  • Your job is to make sure that the event we host is ‘Different’ and from your hospitable role, you make sure our guests don’t lack anything;
  • You make duty rounds to keep an eye on whether everything looks neat.
  • Support with administrative tasks;
  • Handling incoming and outgoing telephone and email traffic;

As a Duty Management intern, you will assist the General Manager in managing the entire hotel operation. To maximize and exceed guest satisfaction, as a management intern you will work with the operations team to provide the best possible service. You live, communicate and monitor the corporate values at all times. You will help lead our employees to their performance, profitability and continuous development of customer service and quality standards.

Biggest challenge and WHY do we need you? As a Duty Management intern, you will work closely with team members from all operational departments, and assist our General Manager. You will support these departments as and when needed. Your job is to ensure that all operational processes within the hotel run as smoothly as possible to ensure a perfect stay for all our guests. You will be our jack-of-all-trades in handling guest complaints, checking rooms, basic maintenance tasks, security checks and directing departments in the absence of a manager or supervisor. In short: a challenging position for an ambitious student!

  • Be available to all departments during shifts for support and questions;
  • Support the Front Office Team as needed and substitute for management during absences;
